As a way of encouraging the reading habit Marvel Next published spellbinders that was enticing for all those who came across it. With the setting around magic not one but six publications came to be. This narrative focused on a girl whose family moved from Chicago to Salem. She is the main character and given them Kim Vesco. Soon after her arrival she met a neighbor Chad Barrow. Being friendly enough he talked to her encouraging her that her new school John Hawthorne, a fictional one, would be okay if she would not be too boring or was into magic.
Her first encounter was with an embodiment in form of air. She was attacked while at the institution, a scary way to be welcomed. Luckily for her she was saved by the characters Mink and Liza Beth. Magic being the order of Salem it was not a surprise for her to encounter with a wall. Learning she could talk with ghosts she unwillingly called out a large number. They warned about the pillar and commanded her to take charge of all witches.
At school during a practical, burners exploded and the place caught fire. She managed to free herself. Chad invited her to the school party. Meanwhile he became aware she was in a foster home. The witches knew that she was in their category although she was not aware. They chose to keep he safe throughout the eventful period.
During the night, the entire place became black. One can easily sense the eerie in the air. Shes attacked by a cruel monster, a were wolf. The enchantress come to her aid. Renata capable of taking different forms copied the attacker. These two confronted but the attacker escaped on sighting the other members approaching by transforming into a bird and flew away.
They gathered around her and explained to details about their group origin and she fathomed that the occult being was a threat to them and the artifact was a resource. Although rejecting at the very beginning she obliged to appear before the pillar. They went to it deep into the forest but they protected the path they trended on by erecting snares. This did not deter Chad though, who was following them.
She could clearly see the smoke coming from the artifact. In front of them, the villain had destroyed the guardian and was ready to devour them. Definitely he was the new thief. They were not strong enough for him and they were powerless in their fight against him. When they came around they were in a place where magic would not act. A ghost instructed Kim to apologize to the debris of the pillar. She was transported by magic to another place with skeletons and carcasses. She would be the keeper.
After escaping back to Salem, the others found Chad had stolen powers of enchantresses and was raising his girlfriend from the dead. Kim and the rest challenge him and overpowered him. When everything calmed down, she left the school in triumph.
