Helpful Hints For Tracking Down The Perfect Dallas Santa For Hire

By Arthur Murray

If you've been put in charge of entertainment for the big Christmas bash at your child's school or the local community center, you don't have to wrack your brain for anything original. You know what all the kids will be waiting for. An arrival from the North Pole means the man in the red suit is on the premises. It's your job to make sure you find the most perfect Dallas Santa for hire possible.

If there isn't a father or grandfather willing to play the role, or unable to play it convincingly, you need to contact an agency. Since you don't want anyone around the kids who has not been thoroughly vetted, asking for fingerprints from the potential actor is a number one priority. This will give you information on any criminal background. Calling references is also important.

The annual Christmas bash is probably the biggest event of the school year. You can't afford to wait until after Halloween to book a performer. Most agencies advise event coordinators to make reservations for someone in August or September at the latest. This is when repeat customers are booking the most popular actors. By November the only people left are those nobody else wants.

Sitting on the big man's lap and telling him what they want for Christmas is really the whole point of this kind of party for the kids. Rental companies estimate that Santas can talk to about fifty kids per hour if they have to. This doesn't give kids much time to talk to him though, much less take a picture. Four minutes per child is the goal you should shoot for.

If your venue includes a fireplace, and you have the great idea of positioning the performer right next to it, agencies will tell you that you're making a mistake. The padding and the suit will get uncomfortably hot very quickly causing the actor to take frequent breaks. A throne in the middle of the room is a much better choice. Be sure to have your phone handy before the actor arrives so you can make your big announcement before someone spots him standing outside.

Trying to impress everybody by hiring a bunch of elves and a Mrs. Claus might backfire on you. Unless the party is huge, all the different characters in one place might be overwhelming. It's better to hire balloon artists and face painters to occupy kids in line while Santa takes center stage.

To make sure your expectations are met, you should know what Santas traditionally do at these kinds of events. They certainly give out presents and have their pictures taken with everyone. They will also lead the group in Christmas carols and read stories.

Being in charge of the annual Christmas pageant or party is a big responsibility. You know the kids look forward to a visit from Santa all year long. It's important to choose the right one. Bad Santas are out there, and you want to avoid picking one of them.
